For over 35 years, SEED’s theory of action has consisted of individual reflection and development, interpersonal communication and relationships, and systems analysis and change within communities, organizations, and institutions. With this model in mind, we offer ReSEED training for practicing SEED leaders as a chance to revisit, renew, recharge, and recommit to working for a more just world.
In the summer of SEED 34 and the year 2020 in the middle of COVID isolation, virtual SEED sprouted a new branch: Craft Cabin.
Craft Cabin was born from a notion that accessing and sharing deeply held stories and feelings might be aided and expanded by more deliberately connecting head work, heart work and hand work (and body work) in community with others.
Art activities have the capacity to create avenues of understanding and feeling that are not easily accessible with words. Craft Cabin is a space where the process of art making is valued and encouraged to grow.
Craft Cabin is a space where the visual/physical product is a by-product of the creative journey that comes when stories and feelings are expressed through using materials at hand- markers, paint, bodies, collected objects and sound. Craft Cabin is a space where the connection of head, heart and hands is encouraged in the service of communicating complex thoughts, feelings and experiences more clearly.
ReSEED deepens and broadens practicing and soon-to-be-practicing-again SEED leaders’ ability to use our methodology more flexibly to bring about individual transformation and systemic change. This Craft Cabin-ReSEED is designed to be a rigorous training where participants explore themselves and strengthen their facilitation using a variety of modes of expression. All Craft Cabin ReSEED participants will leave with their own set of arts based activities, practices and strategies to function more powerfully and passionately to seek educational and organizational equity.
